Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to join our construction-based business. The ideal candidate will assist our accounting department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, and supporting various accounting tasks. The Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the financial stability and success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Invoice Processing:
- Receive and review invoices from vendors and subcontractors.
- Verify the accuracy of invoices, including quantity, price, and terms.
- Prepare and process invoices for payment in a timely manner.
2. Expense Tracking:
- Monitor and record project-related expenses, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Reconcile expense reports and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist in tracking and controlling project budgets.
3. Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and send customer AIA pay applications for progressing and completed projects or services.
- Follow up on outstanding invoices and facilitate timely payments.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable transactions.
5. Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Input financial data into accounting software and spreadsheets.
6. Assist in Month-End Close:
- Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports.
- Participate in the month-end closing process.
7. Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the accounting department as needed.
- Assist with filing, scanning, and organizing financial documents.
- Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding invoices and payments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting no work experience required or 5 year’s experience as an accountant preferably in the construction related industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300) and Microsoft Excel and Office.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of construction-specific accounting practices/software is a plus.
